NATIONAL SILVER AWARD WINNER – SELF CATERING COTTAGE OF THE YEAR 2010
On the 23rd April Coldharbour Cottage won another award, this time a national award judged by Visit England. All the winners of the regional awards were judged by the good and great in the tourist industry and the cottage was not only shortlisted but won the Silver Award. The big event was held this year at the Brighton Dome in East Sussex, dinner jackets, bow ties, posh dinner and loud entertainment ! The same weekend the cottage was featured in the Times Travel Weekend Newspaper, The Mirror and I’ve been interviewed on BBC Radio Kent twice (scary!!). All good though and a great achievement with not even 4 years since we started. Thank you for all who have enjoyed the Coldharbour Cottage Experience and you are welcome anytime !
Coldharbour Cottage won the first prize for the “Tourism ExSellence Award” from the South East Tourist Board back in October 2007. In 2008 a feature story about the Cottage and the Country Tours was mentioned in the popular Activ magazine. In May 2009 the cottage was featured in the Travel Section of the Guardian National Newspaper. It also won the “Tourism ExSellence Award” from the South East Tourist Board in October 2009
It all started in 2005, the cottage was completely renovated during the following year. All the original features have been restored or replaced by local craftsmen. There are original oak beams throughout the cottage which are hundreds of years old. A large inglenook log fireplace dominates the living room, with its original stone floor and walls, a fantastic place to relax. The cottage can sleep up to 6 people.
The flagstone floored kitchen is well equiped with a traditional AGA oven and will soon feature a real working baker’s oven set in the wall.
The master bedroom has a queen size homestead bed with en suite shower. The second bedroom has two singles or a double bed available. This room has an en-suite toilet.
The real English Parlour room has a sofa bed for additional guests.
The Garden Room with its stunning views is a favourite among the guests who stay at the cottage.
