Join us on one of our Awarding Winning Country Tours of our local area.
For 2010 Country Tours will be available for the general public. During the last few years we have had many enquiries from holidaymakers and tourists staying in the area wishing to join one of the Tours. So for 2010 we are hoping to run a new 2 hour course for anyone that is interested.
The tours are available every Wednesday afternoon from March 1st to 31st October by appointment only. Pickup points at Coldharbour Farm or at a the Tourist Office in Rye. The tour is hosted by Andrew who will show you some of the local area, its farms and places of interest. High on the agenda will be opportunities for birdwatching, animal tracking and a short history of local farming. Not only is it important to learn how the land is currently used but it is also very interesting to learn old methods of farming, some of the tools used and how the shepherds survived on the wind swept marshland.
Each tour will vary depending on the weather and local conditions but Andrew will endeavour to make each one interesting and hopefully a bit of fun ! Andrew has been fortunate enough to learn the art of bushcraft by Ray Mears the BBC presenter and will tell you some of his travel stories and tales. Country Tours were highly recommended by Visit Britain recently when Coldharbour Farm won the South East Self Catering Holiday Cottage of the Year Award 2009/10.
