Autumn Harvest
Posted in Diary on 10/31/2013 10:59 am by AndrewBusy days on the Farm this Autumn. We think this year has produced a bumper crop of blackberries and damsons – too many for us to pick them all. The best ones, as always, seem to be out of reach. That said, Coldharbour Cottage Kitchens have been in full flow making all kinds of delicious jams for you to give as Christmas gifts 🙂
Pumpkins are another thing that have grown particularly well this year. They make delicious pies and are very tasty when they are roasted, even the seeds. We often refer back to the family who used to live in the Cottage many years ago with their young children. They would have kept them in storage; in a dry, dark place, such as the pantry, to use over the winter months. In these modern days with freezers we have produced vats of soup!
We still have a few spaces available for short stays in the Cottage before the end of the year; please refer to the calendar on the website.
